grandmother DI'd straight into the teenage engineering TX-6 mixer, 24-bit / 48 kHz, peaks around -6 dBFS. no preamp coloration, no compression on the raw pass — clean signal so producers can apply their own character downstream.
each patch captures 13 anchor notes — A1, C2, Eb2, F#2, A2, C3, Eb3, F#3, A3, C4, Eb4, F#4, A4 (or up an octave for higher-register patches). that's every minor third across 4 octaves, which is the sweet spot for multisample density: tight enough that the sampler's pitch-shift interpolation stays natural between zones, sparse enough that recording takes ~85 seconds per patch via MIDI-sequenced capture.
spring variants are the same patches captured a second time with grandmother's built-in spring reverb engaged at ~30% wet. doubles the perceived value of the pack at minimal extra recording time per patch.
the pipeline behind this: sample WAVs land in the sister spacepit-sample-bank repo, a sync script auto-detects them, generates multisample manifests with computed zone ranges, copies the WAVs into the spacepit-web public folder, and the sampler instrument picker auto-updates. drop new WAVs, run one command, hear them in the browser.
